Personal Highlights

I started skating at 4 years old and started playing hockey at the age 5. I instantly fell in love with the game. My dad tells stories of how I would get up Saturday morning for my Tyke game. I would then come home and play road hockey with my older brother and the neighborhood kids until dinner. After dinner I would sit down with my dad and watch Hockey Night In Canada until I fell asleep.
My dad always told me, "If you want to learn the game study others playing. If you want to be a great player study the highest form of the game...The NHL". As a result I have become a student of the game and developed into a highly skilled player with great vision, awareness and creativity on the ice. I can play the role of a high scoring first line center as well as a defensive minded center that can take third line wingers and produce some of the best "plus / minus" stats on the team. I am strong on the face-off dot where I usually run a 70-80% win rate. When asked to play winger, I bring speed and grit to my game. When I have the puck everyone on my team is a threat but also have no problem finishing when it's my play to shoot. I have a heavy shot with a quick release. Being strong on my skates, hard to get the puck away from and seeing and making plays before others can react, I have even been asked to play a few games as a defenseman. My personal attributes are as follows; I am a hard working, highly motivated competitor. I play the game with class and respect for all and demand it from those around me. I believe that leaders don't tell people what to do. Rather, they do what needs to be done and others naturally follow. So that is the way I conduct myself.
Off the ice many of my on-ice traits carry over. I am active in my school, church, and community. I am well known, well liked and respected. I am gregarious and am drawn to people as much as they to me. I have a strong work ethic and an appreciation for hard work having worked and average of 45+ hours a week this past summer in a brick and stone yard.
At school I study hard to achieve the best results I can so I can earn as many opportunities as I can for the future. I hope to someday pursue a career in either: Sports Management, Sports Medicine, or Physiotherapy. I am looking for a college or university that can offer me a quality academic program as well as a highly competitive athletic environment where I can thrive and develop. My options will only be limited by those who choose not to offer me an opportunity to be great.
