Most improved High School Swimming 2015
2nd at Class 5A State Tournament 100 Breast
My daughter Mikayla Grover swam a year and a half in a well structured and reputable club as a youth before taking several years off to explore other sports. She returned to swimming in high school and returned to the Bend Swim Club going into her sophomore year. She has improved tremendously in the last few months making it to the state 5A competition from the most competitive district in the state. She won second place in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.06 . This time had been steadily dropping from a 1:27 a couple months prior. She has improved her times in the 200IM (2:13) and her split in the 400 relay was a .55. All of these times have been improving rapidly in the last couple months and earned her a spot at senior sectionals in club sports in Austin Texas.
Mikayla is on her way up and loves swimming. The 16+ hours of swimming practice plus weekly dry land training energizes her. She is a hard worker, listens to her coaches, has a great attitude and happy personality. She is a go-getter and takes 2 AP classes and a capstone anatomy/physiology course in addition to her required course work. She is a senior in high school and her coaches are expecting even more improvement.
In the past Mikayla has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and volunteered for fun run fundraisers for Elk Meadow elementary school. She has completed the Red Cross babysitting course and a Hunter's Safety Course as well as additional safety courses for driving safely. She is becoming a member of the First Grace Lutheran Church.
