August 28, 2008 LCS vs Ann Arbor Greenhills – Wow earlier this week we were wondering about tests for our young Pilgrims well after Tuesday’s game and now a very big physical Greenhills team I guess we are finding out. We fell behind quickly 1-0 as this team with skill, quickness, and physicality seemed to outmatch us and win almost every midfield ball. The challenge for them was what to do on the defensive end. Sal was their to provide stop after stop as he frustrated their talented forwards. Even their first goal was a fluke as Calvin had a wide open clear in the box only to whiff on the play and have the ball roll to another offensive player for an easy goal. Sean though quickly struck back from the top of the box to put the Pilgrims back in it at 1-1 with a brilliant left footer. Early in the second half another whiff by one of our defenders resulted in another goal and a 2-1 deficit. Sal played so hard and I am so proud of him as another defensive breakdown left us behind 3-1. Sal took and elbow to the nose and had to be replaced as it bleed badly. Dr. Cook fixed him up and he provided stop after stop as time expired and the Pilgrims first official loss of the season at 3-1. We now stand at 3-1 non league and we are off to
