August 26, 2008 LCS vs Laingsburg – This game brings in a senior laden team starting 8 of them. They got off to a quick start going up 1-0 on some solid offensive playing. Without Sal in our defensive end this game could have gotten out of control very early. Unfortunately Sal was called on a penalty in the box crossing hard to take out a player and the ball. The ensuing PK is what resulted in the early lead by our opponents. We struck back when Sean was the victim of a penalty in the box and Sal came down to drill it past the goal tender for a 1-1 tie. We added another goal quickly to go up 2-1 and see the game turn into a defensive struggle the rest of the way. Our defense anchored by Sal kept turning these seniors away time and time again. Granger and Kuyers learning their roles helped tremendously in this impressive hard fought 2-1 victory. The Pilgrims move on now 3-0 in non league action.
