Other Academic Information
My GPA is a bit lower than previously because I am taking difficult courses, such as AP Physics, AP Pre-calculus, and AP Italian. My teacher recommendations discuss how my grades do not necessarily reflect my academic ability, and they believe that I am prepared for college. I am working hard to raise my GPA this spring semester -- while rowing for the NFA Crew team and adding in daily extra practices at the Newburgh Rowing Club (2 practices a day) In general, I really enjoy school and hope to pursue a career in physical therapy in the future.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I live in a large urban neighborhood and there is a high crime rate. I believe it is important for my fellow community members to be safe and I go out into the streets on behalf of Planned Parenthood and distribute condoms and talk about safer sex. So that I can help people to not avoid unwanted pregnancies and disease. I believe in helping to make a difference in the community.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I attend a large public high school where drugs and gangs are rampant but I live a healthy lifestyle. I am a senior and I have not used any drugs that can harm my body. I am an athlete and that comes first. I rowed for NFA Crew for 2 seasons, then primarily played basketball. I am back my senior year to row for NFA and it is my goal to row in college.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, where I have helped to build houses, including my family's house, it is a great feeling to be able to give back. I also volunteer for Planned Parenthood, where I am a Youth Advocate. I distribute condoms and talk to people in the neighborhood and talk about safer sex and health issues. I also participate in Planned Parenthood public service announcements which are up on YouTube.
