Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I enjoy working with kids, so many of the activities I get involved with are with our community's kids programs. This includes the Shooting Stars program, working as a ref for our local youth sports clubs, or as a counselor for the basketball camps run by our HS team.

The greatest part that I get out of it is how the younger kids and even parents will come up to me and tell me how much fun they had or how much they liked me working with their kids. This doesn't just happen after the activity. I have had kids and parents come up to me if they see me around town and tell me about their experiences well after the activity occurred. That makes my day.

As the program leader of our HS team's Shooting Stars program, I better understand the difficulties of the kids who participate as well as the challenges that the kids' parents face on a daily basis. The positive responses from those kids and their parents makes me realize how a small effort can make big results.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

A student-athlete needs to be able to properly plan and balance all their academic, athletic, and family/social needs. The benefit of being an athlete is the added structure and discipline in place that need to happen to be successful as both a student and athlete which will benefit me later as a college student as well as a adult.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.
