I want to be recruited to play sports in college because I could not imagine my life without diving. I would love to take my ability to the next level and see what I am capable of. I also love to dive!
As many of my older teammates have graduated, I am the new captain of the team. I try to make sure my younger teammates do not spend too much time in the hot tub, complete their warm ups properly, and encourage them to learn new dives. I do not want them to look at me as their boss, but rather as their older sister. I keep them in line and make sure they continue to love and pursue diving no matter how hard it can get. I also try to set the best example because I know they are watching me, and to give up on something would not only hurt me, but my entire team.
Healthy athletic performance to me is learning how to balance a sport, school, and a social life. There are certain measures as an athlete where one cannot do all of the activities non athletes do. Education and mental stability contribute to how one dives. If one never socializes they will not be content with their sport. Diving teaches a lot more than perfection, but being the best you can be, and working towards a goal.
In my community there is a visiting nurses association that has a huge sale in order to raise money for the organization. There is a sale twice a year, that involves lots of organization before, during, and after. I have volunteered there for many years now and have raised a decent amount of money for the organization to help the elderly.
