Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

On the field, I am looked up to for knowledge of the game and also as a positive attitude that keeps the team's spirit high. During the district final game in 2014, we were down by three points and there was four minutes left in the second half. Everyone was crestfallen and was accepting defeat early, so I asked the coach to pull a time out and give a pep talk to remind them the game wasn't yet over.
In addition to lacrosse and church, I also participate in the marching band. In the 2014-2015 marching season, I was quartermaster, who holds the responsibility of loading the trailer with equipment and coordinating events. By being a positive role model through hard work, dedication, and persistence, many of the underclassmen came to me as their leader when they were faced with circumstances that they were unable to overcome alone.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student athlete, I try not to be angered by situations that may arise on and off the field so to avoid unnecessary drama and fights. I focus on having a positive attitude and playing to always better myself and help others when I can. Outside of sports, I do not involve myself with people or situations that could be detrimental to my personal health or development.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am actively involved in a local church, Grace Fellowship, and have served and volunteered there for over four years. I have led the worship band for the youth group there since 2012, and I feel passionate about the word of God and living to glorify His name.
For the months in the off season, I'm involved with tutoring local kids in my neighborhood for volunteer hours. I feel strongly that everyone has the ability to excel, and some just need a little help to reach their full potential.
