Non-Tennis athletic accomplishments:
For the last three years, I have been a great leader for my schools tennis team. I would assist the coach in practice and I would help him with the roster selection for the academy. I always tried do whatever I could to make sure practices ran smoothly and that everyone on the team was on the same page for all the things we did. I showed this same leadership off the court when I would talk to our new first year teammates at school to try and make them feel welcome because it can be a very tough transition for a freshman if they don't feel socially accepted as they start their high school careers.
As a student-athlete, I pursue healthy athletic performance by going to the gym, having a healthy diet, and keeping a great relationship with my fellow teammates. I find time in my everyday life to go to the gym and do any sort of physical activity whether its cardio or weight lifting. This keeps my body in great physical condition and makes sure I am always physically ready to play. I pride myself on having a healthy diet because the food we eat affects our athletic ability drastically. I make sure I eat a great amount of vegetables and protein, while trying to limit out as much junk food as I can. Between school and practices, I try to hang out and establish good friendships with all my teammates because when everyone gets along, it brings a great vibe to the team. If a team has great chemistry, the level of play will also rise more than it would if the teammates does not get along.
I am involved in service for my community by volunteering and making a positive difference in my community for sports and everyday life. For the last two years I have been reffing junior soccer games and making a difference in the way the sport is played in my area. I take pride in being a referee as I can then teach the kids the safe and proper way to play the sport. When I ref, I also promote good sportsmanship among the two opposing teams, and among the players on the same team. This is very important to me as I believe that since they are still at a very young age, that my influence on their behavior on the field can make a change in how they will play the sport in the future. I have also helped my school run the 2015 OFSAA Championships. This is a big sports volunteering highlight for me as this was the largest sports tournament at any age or level that has ever been held in Canada and we had put countless hours in making it a first class event. Besides sports, I also volunteered at the local nursing home on Thursday nights. This volunteer experience is very important to me because it gives me great fulfillment when I see how grateful the senior citizens are when I helped them with anything. This is also a very moving experience for me because it always put a smile on my face when I was shown any appreciation from the elders. I am also involved in student parliament (Student Congress) at my school and that is a time when I can help make my school and community be a better place by organizing fundraising events and making our school the best possible environment for every student.
