Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I believe the key to success in athletics is balance. I could never perform at the level I do knowing I'm slacking in a class or I got 4 hours of sleep because I was playing video games. School first, sports second. Without structure and priorities, how can you succeed at anything?

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

In addition to volleyball and pursuing success in education, I often volunteer in my community. I am a member of the volunteer club at my school where we outreach to the local elementary schools, and soup kitchens and provide help whenever needed. In the summer months, I volunteer for Miracle League which focuses on allowing children with cognitive and developmental disabilities play baseball. I particularly enjoy this organization because the joy the kids have while playing baseball is truly infectious. In addition to these two organizations, I also have lead a canned good drive for the Buffalo City Mission in which my team, comprised of students all around Western New York, raised over 3,000 non-perishables and over 1,000 dollars. Afterwards we went into the City Mission to volunteer in the soup kitchen, and it was amazing seeing how much a small team of teenagers could do in only a few months. Collectively, I have over 150 hours of community service. In addition I also participate in Young Life, TV Broadcast Club, and the Superintendent's Advisory Council.
