Assistant captain for 2 years.
Many MVP awards.

Ice Hockey Additional

I help as much as I can with younger skaters. I love helping coach and train as well as having someone else push me to be better on and off the ice.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have been the assistant captain for two years. I make sure my teammates push themselves and have fun. I will stay with a player that cannot keep up off the ice and try and encourage them to keep pushing themselves to finish. I look more at the little encouragements that I know will help a teammate succeed.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I will encourage my teammates to drink a good smoothie or offer fruit and nuts to my teammates. During tournaments I always suggest going to a restaurant with pasta or protein. I encourage them to wait until the last day to eat junk food or stay up late. I make sure there is a curfew and that whoever is in my room follows that curfew.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Every Saturday morning I volunteer to help coach the beginners hockey program at the local rink. Through my organization (WWFHA) I also help out with the younger teams. It's important for me to reach out to the younger athletes because I want to help them have fun and become successful. Sometimes they also end up teaching me.
