My dream has always been to pitch in college. I feel like being a student-athlete is part of my identity. The time I spend out of the classroom I want to be used productively, and for me, baseball has always been the most productive use of my free time. I think I have been educated in life from the game of baseball almost as much as I have in the classroom, and I don't see the two as separate in my life.
On-field I try to be a leader by going above and beyond what is expected of me. I try to put in additional time practicing and training so I am able to achieve my personal goals. As a pitcher I also try to be a leader during games, with good sportsmanship and treating my teammates, opponents, coaches, and umpires with respect. Since coaches in my region selected me for high school All-Region Honorable Mention, I think that is a reflection of the effort and leadership I bring to the field.
Off-field I was selected by my fellow scouts to serve as senior patrol leader for my troop. This required me to be organized, self sufficient, and able to work with a variety of adults and peers.
Active in Boy Scouts of America community service projects as well as Catholic high school based community service projects. I was brought up understanding that a community is only as strong as its members, and it takes the effort and time of all individuals contributing to make their community a good place. Service to those in need has always been the best way I can contribute my time and talent.
