If my coach has taught me anything, it's to always stay positive, be encouraging, be strong and always do my best. Many teammates will feel disappointed in themselves about how they do in a race. They down themselves and say they did horribly. I'm the teammate who will throw positivity their way and lift their spirits up, motivating them to overcome their athletic struggles. I never leave a teammate behind. I encourage my fellow teammates to always practice and stay fit to become and better athlete and team member. We work as a family to better each other mentally and athletically.
As a student-athlete, I come to practices and meets every day. Even if I am at some point injured, I still attend hoping I can help in some way, whether it be assisting coaches or training a teammate myself. I am in an advanced weights class in school so that I can stay fit and I try to eat and drink healthier food items by cutting out sugary beverages and replacing them with water or even limiting unhealthy snacks. I keep myself fueled with nutritious foods.
