Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love to run! And I love to participate and compete for something I belong to and believe in. It would be my honor to race for the college that I will be attending.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a Boy Scout, I have been a Patrol Leader, assistant Patrol leader (several times) and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (for the entire Troop of 90 teens). I have also been a Den Chief which is a leadership liaison position to help mentor younger Cub Scouts. And I have done several full days of National Youth Leadership Training. On the course, and on the track, I let my performance speak for itself. I try to win and lose with equal dignity; leading by example. I am also one of my team's most vocal supporters during every race, urging on my teammates.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Balance is very important. I try very hard to balance my athletic preparation and competition with school work, scouting, family, and my duty to God. Family and God take priority over everything but otherwise I am very careful to not let any one aspect of my life completely overshadow everything else. As Gale Sayers said, "The Lord is First, My Friends/Family are Second, and I Am Third."

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Boy Scouts of America Life Scout - Eagle rank anticipated in 2017. I have been in scouting since first grade and it is a big part of my life. I have been able to serve my community by collecting food for the homeless, visiting quadriplegic veterans, singing Christmas songs nursing homes, and fixing many hiking trails for the public to enjoy. I have been blessed with a wonderful life and I feel it is both my duty and joy to help those less fortunate.
