Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

On the field, I try to be a good leader. When I'm pitching, I have to believe in my teammates to back me up when a ball is hit. My teammates also depend on me to do my best. When my team starts having a bad inning, which every team does at some point, my catcher & I call a time out and bring everyone together to calm down. After this, we often start doing better. I also try to be a leader off the field. Whether it is in the classroom or just with my friends, I am often leading or "co-leading" with someone else. For group projects in school especially, I lead my group to do the best we can becuase grades are very important to me. I see myself as much more of a leader than follower.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

In my community, I am involved with many things. For school, I am on Student Council, and we do many activities within the community such as 5ks, other types of walks, we volunteer at the local food pantry and the Northern Illinois Food Bank and we do many other things throughout the year. I am also involved in my church youth group, and the Relay for Life. Community work is very important to me. In a small town like Stillman Valley, when something happens, we all come together. When one person needs something, everyone helps out. I know that if my family or friends ever need anything, other people will be there for us, so I feel as though it is our job to be there for other people. Volunteering and other community work is very rewarding, and it can often times be fun.
