Junior Yr: Sam named Second Team All League and Scholar Athlete for 3rd consecutive year; CIF Qtr finals. As a Freshman, Sam earned his Varsity letter for Water Polo and Swim Team; He has earned the Poly Scholar Athlete award every year for both Water Polo and Swim a total of 4x; 2016/17 High School Water Polo League Champs and CIF Semi-Finalist (Div. 4.); 2016/17 High School Swim Team League Champs. 2017/2018: 4x Poly Scholar Varsity Athlete (Water Polo (2x); Swim Team and Mock Trial, Team made it to Qtr finals for CIF; 2 -time Undefeated league Champs. Riverside Water Polo (RWP) 2013 - Received Coaches Award (Top all around player/sportsmanship); Dec. 2015 - Sam was selected and attended the 8th Grade ODP Holiday Camp at Colorado Springs US Olympic Training Center; (RWP) 2014 and 2016 - Selected Most Improved
Sam's primary position is Attacker/Driver; 2018 Stats: 48 steals/18 assists/40pts/9 ED; 2017 Varsity Stats: ED:6; 5-Meters Drawn: 3 High School Freshman Fall (2016.) As a Freshman, Sam was a starter on the JV team and played in (4) Varsity games, scoring three goals. He made the 2016 Varsity CIF roster - Poly made semi-finals for D3, losing to Oaks Christian. As a Freshman, Sam made the Varsity Swim team - primary stroke (Backstroke) see more info below; Sam has been playing water polo since age 10; Summer 2017 - Shaver Lake Open Water Champions. Sam made Varsity Water Polo and Swim Teams as a Freshman. Primary events are 100 back and 200 IM. Current times as Soph. are:100 back-100.09/28.66 split (Cif Consid time); 50 Free - 24.55; 200 IM-210.02 (CIF. consid. time); Sam is also very active with community service organizations (Youth Court - Riverside Police Dept.) and Bear Pals (Interacting with special needs students); 2019 earned Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
Every year around Thanksgiving I (along with my teammates) make sack lunches for the homeless. This is one way my water polo club (RWP) gives back to our community. Also, every year I (w/ my brother and parents) deliver Christmas presents to low income families. This is part of the Elves Program of the Riverside County Bar Association.
