Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I am part of the class of 2017 at Dock Mennonite Academy in PA. I am an International Student from Lithuania. I came to USA in my 2nd half of junior year in 2015.

My priority is academics (that was one of the reasons why I came to your Country, because you have a high level of academics and your education system is more developed). However basketball is very important for me too, and basketball was the other reason I came here, because in Lithuania girls’ basketball career ends after 11th grade, and it is not as popular. So my vision for now is to get into a school where I can get a high level education (I am planning to major into International Business and Sport Management) and also to have a possibility to continue play basketball. I believe that for basketball is not enough to have fast legs and long arms, I believe that it is also important to have the head.

I have been playing basketball since fourth grade. I played for Basketball School in Lithuania, Kaunas “Saules” Gymnasium School, and currently I am playing for the Dock Pioneers Team; I play as a Shooting Guard, Point Guard, and a Small Forward.

I am confident that Business is that area where I find myself interested the most. Traveling and getting to know different cultures, facing new challenges, and finding new ideas encourages me to go towards this major. I am passionate about Business, ready to bring new ideas to the world and get the best education and knowledge to be able to create my own Business. My current GPA is 3.30/4.00. Also I took SAT test on March 11, 2017.

I am communicative, responsible and through, creative, fast learner, used to fast tempo and busyness, I am prone to communicate with people, focused on results and fast decisions. I am characterized as very accurate, responsible, energetic, spirited person, with a good sense of humor, tolerance, ethics and being polite. I always find time for self-development. I read a lot and learning what is going on in the world. I am passionate in leadership and competition. Since I was little I wanted to do things as much as I could. When I was younger I was singing, dancing, played piano, a lot of times I became a winner of competitions, I have a lot of awards and diplomas. I like challenges, so when I was 17 years old I left Lithuania and I moved to USA to study and continue my career as an athlete at Dock Mennonite Academy. This is my second year here and I am taking some AP and college classes. My native language is Lithuanian, however at this moment I am perfectly speaking in English, I know some Russian, and I am planning to learn Spanish. My free time is different every time. I am passionate about traveling. I have been in many different Europe and Africa’s countries. Traveling gives me a chance to learn different things. Also while living in USA I visited some states, I got to know the culture, people, economy and I am researching the politics.

I believe that this University will exceed my expectations. I know this University will not only help me in my life, but also bring a better future for me. My persistence, desire to study and to improve will help me to achieve great results. I am ready to reach for successful graduation. In the future I want to share my acquired theory knowledge and practical experience, while working for an international company.

I have been playing basketball since fourth grade. I played for Basketball School in Lithuania, Kaunas “Saules” Gymnasium School, and currently I am playing for the Dock Pioneers Team; I play as a Shooting Guard, Point Guard, and a Small Forward. My height: 5’6, Wight: 139lbs.

I am ready to give all my energy, initiative and enthusiasm, to participate in the university’s activities. I am ready to join the women’s basketball team, bring some good energy, learn new skills and drills, become close with teammates, and of course seek wins!

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I like being active in sports and practices, on the court. I am a fighter. This year I am a Captain for Varsity team. I’m always trying to motivate the girls, push them to try and never give up, I always support them and I am always open to help every single of them, and I always say to them that we are Family and if we go together we go till the end. The strengths of the team are its players, and every player’s strength is the team. I enjoy Steve Jobs quote: “Have the courage to follow your heart and illusion. They somehow know what you truly want to become.”

Wthe season is over I am the only girl from the entire school who is practicing with boys’ basketball team. Also during fall season I played Volleyball (this year was my first year playing this sport and I was good enough to be Varsity player, and we won 1st place in our League and Districts, and also we went to States). I believe that team sports bring a lot of experience and other things to every person’s future. This upcoming Spring I am also planning to participate in Track and Field team for sprints. Also I like riding horses, biking, skiing. I love fishing and I find it as very relaxing activity.

International experience pushed me to seek my goal even more. Two years independent life in USA made me to understand what do I want to become in the future. I want to continue to study and to get more knowledge from professors and world leaders, to understand International Business/Business.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I am active in life and in school activities. I am an athlete and a team captain. I have been playing basketball for over 10 years now. This team sport always makes me think one step ahead. It requires a lot of tenacity and responsibility for yourself and the team. International experience pushed me to seek my goal even more. I want to continue to play basketball, develop my skills, learn new drills, and play for a team that I could help lead to the wins and perfect team bonding. And in general basketball just became my lifestyle, I play ball since my 4th grade. Just back home in Lithuania we have special sports schools where we athletes are practicing and opposite from USA we play basketball for ten and a half months, and just one and a half we are resting. I have a graduation certificate from my Sports School that I am successfully graduated from there.

This year I got an opportunity to job shadowing in one of the biggest fitness centers in PA. During that time I got to know this company business/sports area, I receive International knowledge about the culture, social-economic situation, and challenges while working with different culture people.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Other very important part of my life is volunteering and active life. While I was in Lithuania I was a volunteer at Organization called Food Bank (“Maisto Bankas”). It is charity and support fund. I am continuing volunteering while I am in USA. Our church group helps everyone: homeless and kids. For me volunteering is very special responsibility and understanding, it teaches to feel compassion.
