- I enjoy cooking and singing and have become adept at doing both at the same time
During the off-season, my top two places to volunteer are the local United Community Ministry's food pantry and in my choir department. Cooking and singing are very important to me, so I like helping out in those areas. At the food pantry, I shelve and distribute the food to patrons. I was in a Spanish emmersion program during elementary school and continuedrove leaning Spanish thoigh my freshman year of high school. This backround in Spanish is very helpful at the pantry as there is a large number of spanish-speaking people who go to my food pantry. In my school, I volunteer for my choir department. I have worked on internal affairs like organizing our thousands of pieces of music, sewing costumes (we are a low-budget organization), and making show props. I have also gone with my choir into the community to sing for charities and causes. For example, in 2014, I went with the rest of the advanced choir and sang at the Kennedy Center in the ADL Concert Against Hate. More recently, we sang christmas carols on the Toys for Tots train, pre-show for the Little Theater of Alexandria's performance of "A Christmas Carol," at a veterans dinner with over 200 solders escorted from Ft.Belvoir, and at George Mason University. I also periodically volunteer with the honor societies I belong to, but these two causes are what're most important to me.
