Personal Highlights

I love playing Lacrosse…. I enjoy the competition, the team work and the athleticism. I enjoy working with my teammates to be the best team we can be. Last week, I was in a tournament and the head Referee told me I was his favorite player. I was surprised and asked why, he said “ I can tell you love playing, you work hard, and are always kind and positive” That meant a lot to me, because I do try and be a positive leader on and off the field. I started playing Lacrosse in 5th grade and now play year around. I am looking forward to the Spring Season playing for my High School as well as the Summer Travel Season where I will be playing on a National Travel Team with Triumph Lacrosse.

I work out almost every day and my physical fitness is very important to me. I work hard to stay in shape which helps me be effective on the field and my overall wellbeing.

As for my college aspirations, I would love to play Lacrosse in College but also know that I need to choose a school that will be a good fit for me as a person, academically and to prepare for my future. I am undecided on my major, but am leaning toward Psychology, Leadership, and Communications.

CHRIS MERUCCI, HEAD COACH & DIRECTOR, TRIUMPH LACROSSE CLUB

I have had the pleasure to coach Mackenzie Maiorano for the past three seasons. Through her play and her actions,
both on and off the field, Mackenzie has embodied our club’s mission and core values. I have attached a copy of our
“core values” on a separate sheet. Mackenzie has been a great ambassador for our club; she will be missed but
we’re excited for her to continue her academic and athletic experience at the next level. Mackenzie will be a great
addition to any team and will make an immediate positive impact on the field and in the locker room. Below is a
more detailed evaluation for Mackenzie.

Athletic Ability: Although not possessing “world class” speed, strength and size, Mackenzie makes up for it in
heart, hustle and determination. She possesses excellent field vision and strong Lax I.Q as well. In addition,
Mackenzie has a great ability to “read and react” quickly on the field. She has a keen sense to anticipate plays,
communicate with her teammates and adjust quickly. She has a great understanding of the game and is always
helping her teammates to better understand as well. With consistent and effective communication, on offense,
defense and on the sidelines, Mackenzie has established herself as a strong leader. Mackenzie is a very good
defender, ground-baller, hustle player and playmaker. She’s a very determined “team player” that can and will play
any position well. Mackenzie consistently places team success over individual achievement, both on and off the field
Personality: Mackenzie has a vibrant personality, positive attitude and possesses many desirable intangibles, such
as:
 Coachable
 Intelligent
 Supportive
 Motivated
 Focused
Athletic ability: 7/10
Leadership: 8.5/10
Team player: 9.5/10
Easy to work with: 9.5/10

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love playing Lacrosse…. I enjoy the competition, the team work and the athleticism. I enjoy working with my teammates to be the best team we can be. Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

 Christmas Gift Drive for Kids in Detroit. Since my freshman year, I chose a child to sponsor for
Christmas gifts. These kids are between kindergarten and 5th grade and live in Detroit. Shop for
their wish list items, buy the gifts, wrap them and then our team takes them to their school before
Christmas break. This is one of my favorite things to do as you see these kids’ faces really light up and
I know we are actually helping them.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

 4 Year Varsity Lacrosse Team. A leader on the team and play year around on a travel team. Help
with the training of the new players and being a leader on and off the field.
 3 Year Varsity Golf Team.
 1 Year JV Ski Team. Downhill ski team. Did not continue after Freshman year due to a knee injury
and also decided that three sports are too much. Dedicated more time to my school work, Golf and
Lacrosse.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

 Volunteer‐Oakland County Animal Shelter. Our group goes to work at the County Animal Shelter
each year. Each year I am one of the student leaders for this event. A kill shelter and is a very
unpleasant place, but being there and visiting with the animals and helping the other full‐time workers
is rewarding.
 Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. One of our neighbors and best family friends has Breast Cancer.
She was diagnosed with Stage 4. It has affected me and want to help people with cancer and those
closest to them. Each year we go as a group and I will be active in fighting for a cure for the rest of
my life.
 Participant in activities for March of Dimes. My Moms company was asked to be involved in the
March of Dimes Walk in Oakland County. I learned more about the work of the March of Dimes and
decided to get involved. Helped raise awareness with my peers and walked in the walk.
 Student Leadership. Very active in Student Council and school spirit events. Fully participated in all
student events and activities.
 VP of AP Psychology Club. Senior year, my AP Psych teacher asked me to become the VP of
the Psychology club. We have a very active group and organizing activities for students.
