Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I'm motivated to play basketball in college for one simple reason: I love the game of basketball and have a constant desire to compete and win in this sport. Entering just my 3rd season of competitive basketball this coming winter, I feel as if I am just getting started.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Serving as a captain for about half of the games I've played, as well as being a vocal leader on my team helps me use my leadership qualities to the best of my ability. On the court, I lead by sharing the ball and encouraging my teammates in wins or losses. Off the court, I try to set a good example for the next generation of athletes by volunteering to coach and counsel them.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I strive to have a healthy spiritual, social, mental, and physical life. Putting in the time in each of these areas is a major key for me to achieve succes on and off the court. In my spiritual life, reading the Bible and praying help my relationship with God to grow. For me, having a good social life is key. Surrounding myself with people who will push me to become a better athlete and person is a priority. Mentally, I work hard to keep my grades up and fill my head with as much knowledge as possible, in academics and in areas that interest me. Physically, I continually focus on eating right, excercising, and getting a good amount of sleep. I believe all of these factors contribute positively to my time on the court.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Volunteering in my community brings fulfillment to me. I spent a week this summer as a volunteer with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, working with 8-10 year olds as a basketball coach and counselor. I'm the past, I have also spent time volunteering with my church for their summer kids programs, as well as working with the Red Cross teaching kids how to swim.
