I have competed in cross country competition since 2012. I have been an integral part of 4 consecutive regional championships on our high school team. In 2015, I was the regional champion with a time of 17:01. In 2014 and 2015, I was voted onto the All Region Team. Last year, in state competition, I placed 12th in our division with a time of 16:38 and earned a spot on the All-State Team. This year, I won the regional championship again with a time of 16:50. I also finished 8th in the state meet with a time of 16:40 and earned a place on the All State Team. I have also been notified that I have been voted Kentucky Area 8 Runner of the Year for 2016.

Outdoor Honors

I have competed in track since 2014. My main event is the 3200m, although I have participated in the 4x800 relay and the 1600m. I finished 2nd last year in our region in the 3200m with a time of 10:33 and finished 12th in the Kentucky State Track Meet with a time of 10:27. I have improved my times each year and continue to improve them. Since I still have another year of high school left, I hope to improve even more.

I enjoy running in both cross country and track. I believe in giving my all and practice in the off season with the exception of a couple of weeks off for rest. When season starts, I am always ready and have met or exceeded the coach's mileage requirements.

I am currently interested in a major in History, perhaps to teach History in the future. I am also looking at other majors and areas of interest.

I am in process of obtaining my NCAA Clearinghouse ID, as well as, my NAIA clearance.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I live in a small town where there are few "good" jobs. I hope that running will open opportunities to attend college that would not normally be available to me. This could help me further my education and allow me to achieve my goals for the future. I also feel that I would be an asset to the team because of my dedication to my team and teammates.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have stepped up into a leadership role on our team by encouraging all of my teammates to push harder. I also encourage them to practice alone or in small groups to get their mileage in for the week. I support the team as a whole and support our coach in his decisions. We work together to achieve a common goal.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I do not believe in using performance enhancers and continually promote healthy eating habits.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.
