I want to be recruited because I believe that playing soccer in college will benefit me physically, academically, and socially. Playing sports helps prepare you for the future by helping you to learn how to work with others, prioritize your time, and gain leadership skills.
In the classroom, I demonstrate leadership qualities by treating my teachers and fellow students with respect. I often assist other students when they don’t understand the classwork. . I try to lead my teams by example with good sportsmanship and service. I support my teams on the field, or off the field. In ninth grade, with the soccer team, I helped the Parent Teacher Support Group clean up the school grounds. I also volunteered for the Warriors Club at the Pigskin cook-off carrying plates from the cafeteria to the car take-out line. When I did not have a conflict, I often assisted at practice for the girls’ soccer team helping set up and put away equipment.
As a student-athlete it is important to pursue and maintain a healthy athletic performance. In order to do this, it is important to take care of one's self physically and emotionally. For my physical well-being, I try to eat healthy, drink water, and get plenty of sleep. For my emotional well-being, I believe it is important to be well-rounded. In addition to studying daily and giving soccer my all by training with my teams and on my own, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I especially enjoy taking my dog to the beach.
It is important to help others and give back to the community. Helping others helps me to be a better person. For several years now, I have volunteered as a soccer camp counselor helping younger kids improve their soccer skills. Meeting new kids at camp and working together in groups also helps kids with their social skills. In elementary school, my sister and I opened our own pet sitting business. We walk dogs, feed cats, and have even sold pet treats and lemonade to raise funds. All the money is donated to various humane societies. As a student from PK- 8 at Saint Mary’s school and with the church, I have delivered meals on wheels, been a reading buddy, and served as an altar server.
