Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I am very interested in playing golf in college because I love the game, the competition, representing my school, and the friendships that are formed with the team as well as with players from other schools. I am looking for a team that values each individual and what they can contribute to the team as much as what the team accomplishes together. And, with academics being very important to me, I want to be part of a team that emphasizes academics as much as winning the next tournament.

As part of both the Golf and Badminton Teams and National Honor Society I have had the opportunity to volunteer my time to local non-profit fundraising events, meet with incoming students to talk about our school and athletics programs, and volunteer my time to NEDSRA Special Olympics. I have enjoyed all of these experiences and look forward to doing more with my team in college.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and video. I look forward to speaking with you soon about the contributions I can make to your team.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Last year (2015-16) we had 11 seniors on the golf team. As the only Junior on the team and only non-Senior on the Varsity team I became a leader for the sophomore and freshman players, most of whom were new to golf. Knowing most of these five girls would be on our 2016-17 Varsity team and remembering how nervous I was playing at sectionals my sophomore year, I encouraged them to practice, and to play in tournaments and other events where they could gain more experience and confidence with their game. I am proud to say that this year (2016-17) these girls recruited 10 new players for the team. We play some of the top teams and girls in the state and everyone has remained positive and supportive of each other despite losing more than we have won.

Off the course I have helped coordinate our annual car wash fundraiser for the past three years (making posters, bringing snacks, spreading the word about the event) and also hosted a party last year for the six of us to make posters, t-shirts and decorations for the 11 senior lockers. Both activities are a great way to bond as a team and to start looking forward to the next year.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I maintain a balanced diet, go to the gym for additional cardio and strength training, and do my best to maximize available free time during the school day to complete homework and study so that I can get enough sleep at night. I go to all the practices and will go to the range or play a round over the weekend to continue to improve my game.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I enjoy meeting people and getting to know more about them. Volunteering at golf events gives me the opportunity to do both and to promote the game of golf for girls. At one recent event, many of the adults were surprised that the "pros" were girls who could hit the ball farther than them!

Please see my Personal Profile for a list of recent volunteer and other service activities.
