Player of the Game vs. North Central (10-28-2016)
I am looking for an opportunity to advance on the field and most importantly in life. I have overcome many obstacles without wavering or making excuses. I know my potential and I am anxious to grow within a program that prides itself on grooming men. For this reason, I believe a program that prides itself on using academic and athletic success as their vehicles can carry me into manhood. I am ready.
Our school has received a number of negative labels. One in particular is "loud, ghetto, unteachable." I took this personal and assured myself that I will never allow the judgement of others to dictate my being. I carry myself in school and on the field with manners and respect. I took something that was intended to harm and changed into motivation.
The physical requirements of playing varsity basketball and football are extremely demanding. I must remain in shape and constantly learn from experts on how to improve my craft. Outside of my weight training class, I receive training from licensed trainers.
Outside of the community efforts my athletic teams require, I am a member of City of Hope. We are a church that was launched in my middle school. For the past three years we have been responsible for feeding, clothing and mentoring not only church members, but also families in need in our surrounding community.
