Basketball, softball and sports in general have been a part of my life since I can remember. My parents are both in education and both have coached at different times. I watched my sister, who is seven years older than I, successfully compete for years, in softball, volleyball and basketball. We both had basketball hoops, even when I was 3, mine, of course was shorter, but we would both go out and shoot at our own baskets. We spent hours out there.
I've been playing basketball on a team since 1st grade. Although I've always loved the game, I've really come to enjoy the competition, the excitement of a good play, winning that close game and all the relationships I've made by playing the game. Whether it be teammates, coaches or even the officials - the game is my passion.
I've also played softball since I was old enough for T-ball. Softball is also a great love of mine - I enjoy the competition, the strategy of the game and the entire atmosphere of being out on the field. Softball has definitely taught me team sacrifice for the goal of winning. Whether that means laying down a bunt to move a player over, stepping out of the line up for a DH who has been hitting well or changing positions on the infield to make our team stronger depending on the year. Over the years the strongest friendships I've had were made spending all those hours and weekends on the field together.
To have the opportunity to play in college, to continue doing something I love, to continue to compete at a high level, have the opportunity to have it help me pay for my education and meet new friends that share a common interest is the reason I would like to be recruited to play softball or basketball. Thank you.
On the field and court I lead with my passion, love of the game and knowledge of the game. From being around athletics my entire life I have learned the reason why behind why certain things are done. I lead by helping to bring teammates out of slumps and letting all team members know how much all are needed and important to our success.
Off the field I lead by being a role model, practicing, being on time for all activities, earning good grades and helping out with youth and community events.
Sandbagging, organizing Red Cross Emergency site donations and helping to clean our local community impacted by flooding in March of 2019 . It was important to help give back to my community as others came to help my family and my own home that was impacted by the flooding.
I help run the clock during Junior High Basketball Tournaments on Saturday Mornings. This helps my school be able to host these events and provides a good example to younger players who will be my teammates in the years to come.
Assisting with coaching at 12U GI Elite Softball Practices and at the Central Nebraska Softball Camp in Grand Island . Helped teach younger players fundamental softball skills to encourage them to play the game.
Wood River Little Eagles Basketball Camp - Helped teach the younger players in my community the game of basketball to share my love for the game and help improve our skill level.
Care Packages for Troops Project - My friend's older sibling is in the Army and we wanted to give back to those who sacrifice to protect our country and freedoms.
