Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Well obviously I love playing volleyball. It is a sport I just really enjoy, I love that you play with a team, that it is challenging but familiar at the same time and I love the traveling to different places (I always try to do something fun in each place I visit!). I feel like most students have some sort of extracurricular activity, whether it is band, fraternities or clubs, but I would rather play volleyball because it is something that I really enjoy.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have been the team captain both on my high school and club volleyball teams. While the job of captain isn't always fun, it does remind me that with a positive attitude, good listening and communicating skills we can all succeed on and off the court. I also provide leadership on my high school campus by running the Out Reach Peer Counseling program. My duties include mentoring other students, tutoring and running a program for parents called "What I wish My Parents Knew...". It is a great program to encourage dialog between students and their parents about topics that are relevant to students today.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I think healthy athletic performance includes getting enough sleep, keeping up with stretching before and after playing, pushing myself to be better, keeping a good attitude even when I am not playing my best.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

In addition to volleyball, I love animals. So I have been volunteering at Helen Woodward Animal Shelter for the past 2 years, I help in the adoption center for dogs. It is so rewarding to see the love the dogs have when I come by and walk them and give them attention. Luckily at our shelter the dogs find homes fairly quickly, so it makes me happy to see them go to good homes.
