Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Currently, I am a member of the Alpha Elites at Fairmont Heights High School. We are an organization of young men determined on making a difference by not only doing great services in our school but the community as well. Sponsored by, new teacher, Mr. Marc McMillan, Alpha Phi Alpha - Pledged in 2011

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue healthy athletic performance as a student-athlete by making sure that I have annual physicials, eat healthy, attend practice and exercise appropriately. I also make sure that I am wearing my appropriate equipment.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

2012 - Current - SCA Conservation Leadership Corps (CLC) & Student Conservation Association (SCA) - Being a part of SCA/CLC has given me a better sense of leadership, teamwork and environmental awareness. Commute to and from our central meeting place before heading out as a team to work. We do trail maintenance and restoration projects, removal of invasive plant species, environmental waste management, recreational and environmental learning/outdoor skills camping trips. Our projects take place in national, regional, and state parks.

2009-Current - Volunteer for various Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) various events and activities throughout the community - Kinderfest, Building Blocks, Photo Voice, Bladensburg Waterfront, etc. Each event or activity can be quite different and I get to really experience new and interesting things. I also have the opportunity to help and meet many wonderful people in our community. I like volunteering with MNCPPC as well as enjoying the parks and recreation centers that are available.

2012 - Current -Friends of Kenilworth Park - Lotus and Waterlily Festival Volunteer - These annual events are really interesting. Monks from several countries bless the fields, followed by Buddist Sutra Chanting, African Drumming, and other events showcasing the prominence of lotus in numerous cultures.

2011- Current VolunteerMatch - various events and activities
