Brooks Invite and Shelton Invite
May 3, 2017
This last weekend was crazy but awesome. I found out last minute that I could go to the Brooks/Liberty Distance Twilight Invite on Friday, April 28th. If you haven't heard of this meet, you should check it out. Basically it is a distance-only meet for all the best athletes in the area. Plus, it was at night, so we got to run under the lights which was very fun. I really enjoyed how low-key and relaxed it felt, but at the same time was very exciting and competitive. It's hard to explain to. You would just have had to be there I guess. That night I ran the 3200m and finally broke my PR from last year. It was great to finally get over that hump. I feel like I can start dropping some good times now. I ran 11:36.

The next day (Saturday the 29th), I went to the Shelton Invite. I was pretty tired from the night before, so my times weren't great, but still really solid. It was only 16 hours from gun to gun. That's super encouraging to know that I have the strength to compete hard multiple days in a row (I'll need that for state weekend). So, all in all, it was a great weekend. I am definitely tired, but I'm taking it pretty easy this week so that I'll be ready for the Shaner Invite this Friday!
