Ardrey Kell High School - With over 3,100 students enrolled, Ardrey Kell is the largest high school in North Carolina. Each season, around 80 players battle for a spot on two AKHS baseball teams (JV and Varsity). In 2018, my team (AKHS varsity) went all the way to the NCHS 4A State Championship, losing a close battle to Fuquay Varina HS in game 3 of the finals. AKHS Head Coach, Hal Bagwell, has coached a number of players to the next level (NCAA) and beyond (MLB). The most notable, World Series Pitcher Alex Wood of the LA Dodgers. With 80% of my team returning this year, we look forward to another shot at the State title in 2019.
Team Carolina. In the off-season, I was invited to play for well-known Head Coach and former Pittsburgh Pirates Scouting Director, Leland Maddox and Team Carolina. I am the starting catcher for Coach Leland and also play in the outfield when needed,
Outside of my team workouts, I started working out with MBS Fitness owner and personal trainer, Mark Brown in Matthews, NC. Mark is focusing specifically on my weight training and nutrition, to help me bulk up a little for my senior year. I also take extra BP nearly every day, to increase my power and bat speed.
I am applying and visiting colleges now, but still undecided.
I have been involved in mission work here in the United States and in Haiti.
I work hard for my coaches, teachers and trainers.
Because I love the game of baseball and want to play as long as I can.
On the field, I work hard for my coaches and I encourage my teammates no matter what.
Off the field, I stay clean and do my best to be a good example for my school and my team.
I do my best to eat right by using a personal nutrition chart and drinking at least a gallon of water daily. I workout 3 - 4 times a week with my team, 3 times a week with my personal trainer (recently started) and 2 days a week on my own. I get 8 + hours of sleep per night. My focus this summer, is to bulk up for my senior year. I want to gain more power, without losing my speed and agility.
My parents always taught me to care for the less fortunate. I volunteer at my church and have served many meals to the homeless with my parents. In 2015 I went to Haiti, where we served at an orphanage in Les Cayes for 7 days. It was the best trip I've ever taken. I hope to go back soon.
