Personal Highlights

My name is Alyssa Ponce, I will be entering my senior year at Lehman HS in Kyle Texas this coming fall. I started playing soccer at 3 yrs old and select ball at 7 yrs old. I am dedicated not only on the field, but off the field as well. In 7th grade I was selected into the Duke Talent program, and inducted into the National Juniors Honor Society. Currently, I am taking AP courses and enrolled in a college dual credit program where I will be graduating with a college associates degree along with my high school diploma in 2021. I am an honor student, and dedicate my time to various organizations that is helping my community. I want to show the youth of tomorrow where hard work, dedication and determination can lead you.
My passion also applies into the soccer field. My dedication paid off and I was 1 of 2 freshman who made our high school varsity squad. I am a starter who plays left-mid among various other positions as needed. Currently, I play club ball in the Developmental Players League (DPL) with Lonestar in Austin, Texas. My goal is to continue my soccer career into my college years and play for a school that will enhance my love for the game of soccer as well as challenge my academics.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to be challenged, to always be better. I want to play at a higher level, because I believe in myself and know that college sports is my next level in a platform that can launch and unleash my abilities as a student athlete. I want to show the non-believers or those that may doubt, that anything is possible. If you dream, and set goals...........those goals can be reach. Nothing is out of reach if you are determined and work hard.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a leader I have learned to step back to listen and learn. By listening and learning, i am able to absorb and take that knowledge to develop a high standard of play. I take that philosophy off the soccer field and apply it to everyday life. In class, my peers view me as someone they can trust and ask for assistance. Teachers look for my guidance, because they know I can be a leader in the classroom. I may be quite and seem shy, but that approach has gained me respect on and off the field. Teachers, and coaches along with my fellow athletes know that when the time comes for me to lead, rather it's on or off the field. I am the one that will follow through and guide them to victory.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I take pride in how I eat and maintain a routine that helps me to promote my healthy performance. I have cut out many "bad" eating habits that I developed in my youth and learned that what I eat effects how I perform on the field. To be a better player, you need to care for your body and mind. I am always looking to better myself so I set goals and push myself to exceed those goals.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am part of my High School's FCA (Fellowship of Christian athletes) program. I work with my fellow classmates to promote a positive environment for other young athletes, and to guide them on a positive level using and trusting in our faith.

I am also part of my school's Leo Club, I like to give back to my committee, by offer my services and volunteering my hours to help clean up our town, or working with our youth in a reading program, and most important, helping out those that are less fortunate then us.

On my own, I also volunteer to referee my committee's youth soccer program, and in the summer months, i assist my high school coach during his soccer clinic. I grew up learning to play soccer at a young age. My passion for the sport grew in large to the mentors that I had along the way. I want to give back and help develop our youth to love the sport as much as I do, and grow their passion to be able to take that love to a higher level of play.
