I am not ready to hang up my ball glove just yet. I believe that softball in college would be a great experience to meet people from my school, compete at a higher level, travel to new areas, and help my school win! As long as I can remember, I have always played a sport. Softball has been my #1 constant through the years and I want to keep playing as long as I can. Being on a softball field is home to me.
Being a leader on my team is something that I take very seriously. Recently, my high school team went to the Sectional Championship. During a routine outfield play, our short stop was injured and had to be pulled from the game. Due to the injury, we had to move some people around and it affected our chemistry. I saw the concern in the other players faces so I worked hard to build up the confidence of my teammates and my pitcher. In life, I am always the girl who looks on the bright side. If I have a peer struggling with something, I assure them that this too shall pass and that there is a lesson to be learned from everything. I try to lead by being a good citizen, a good teammate, and a good friend.
I pursue healthy athletic performance by always eating meals and healthy snacks between athletic events, constantly drinking water, and getting plenty of sleep. I take every opportunity to eat/sleep when I can as I am consistently playing some sort of sport and what to perform my best. In my downtime, I try to make time to work out, keeping my cardio a priority as well as weight lifting to keep my core strong.
My biggest commitment to my community is our local youth. I am a big believer that sports are a gateway to positive outcomes in life. I take my enthusiasm and love for all things sports and share this with the kids through local camps. I volunteer for our softball, basketball, and tennis camps. I also volunteer for local festivals like Appleknocker, that are education-based where you interact with the local community via crafts and education. I also work with my high school peers on planning various student council projects and pep club assignments.
