Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have participated in Junior Lifeguards at Leo Carrillo State Beach since I was nine years old. Last year, because of my previous junior lifeguard experience, strong ocean swimming skills, maturity and leadership ability, I was selected for a Volunteer Assistant position. Assistants are an integral part of the junior lifeguard program. We help the Lifeguard Instructors with beach set up, equipment management, student supervision, and safety. Being an assistant gives me the opportunity to help introduce young junior lifeguards to a program and lifestyle that has always meant a lot to me. My involvement in Junior Lifeguards has given me the confidence to face challenges both in and out of the water, so it's important to me to be able to give back to the program and help other kids have the same kind of rewarding experience that I had.

I am also active in the Teen Guild of the Centennial Guild of CHLA. We organize collection drives and fundraising activities that benefit the patients of the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
