I want to play sports in college because I love them and I love the high energy I feel after a good practice or workout. I also love being apart of a team and making friendships on the field that become friendships off of the field.
On the field, I was a captain so I was in charge of helping the offense and defense communicate effectively without yelling at each other. Off the field, people come to me and ask me how they can improve their skills and I try my best to help and encourage them in their growth as a player.
As a student-athlete, the day can get crazy with the amount of tasks that need to be completed. Managing time is the only way I can be successful in school and on the field. I have to be able to balance school work with practice and games.
I teach kids in a program called Kids to Kids. This program helps kids learn how to include everyone and accept each others differences. It also helps prevent bullying and gives kids leaders to look up to and talk to about how they are being treated. I also coach basketball for kids in lower grades. This gives them a way to learn the game of basketball while competing in a respectful, but fun way.
