One of my best achievements in my swimming career has been to win 2 National championship Relay gold medals and a silver medal. As part of my school sporting career, I have been a member of 4 APS final championships and 1 runner up. I have also been awarded triple colours re awarded for outstanding achievements in the schools representative teams. I have several individual State medals and have been a part of our clubs national team for 3 years running.
I have been swimming for 16 years now since I was 12 weeks old and haven't had more than 5 weeks off when I was on camp in China. I have very high ambitions for my swimming. Some of my personal highlights are being accepted into Caulfield Grammar school on a general academic scholarship. This was very exciting to be representing an exclusive academic school as well as an elite sporting school. Being a part of 4 winning APS finals night for Caulfield Grammar has been an outstanding achievement, as well as winning 2 relay National championships and 1 silver, has really motivated me to achieve the same success in college and in my own individual swimming career.
Being recruited into college has been a dream of mine since the start of high school. My coaches planted the seed early suggesting the independence, opportunities and experiences are worth aiming high for, life experiences which have been pivotal in their lives. I really want to excel in my swimming and academics which is a little more challenging here in Australia as there is not the same emphasis on following a sporting pathwayl. To be recruited into a college would allow me access to some of the best coaches in the world who have achieved their own success in swimming. This experience would help me further my swimming career whilst completing my undergraduate course.
I have shown great levels of leadership being my middle school house captain and leading our house to win the middle school house cup. This was a great honour which I was awarded with house colours for outstanding service to the house. I also have shown leadership whilst being a role model at swimming, I was recently the oldest squad member and had to show my leadership being a positive role model by not only working hard in training and gym but being supportive and encouraging of team mates.
- balancing training with homework
- getting exercise external to swimming in the form of cycling for school team and running
- having a part time job doing football umpiring
- ensuring the nutritional needs are met by being responsible for packing my own breakfasts/lunches/snacks for the day
I recently helped my primary school out for a week, This was a part of school requirements, but I have also gone down to the school to help out in the classroom and in PE classes on my school days off as I enjoyed the teachers and the students helping them. This was a way for me to give back to the school community that helped me with my early academics and supported my swimming interests and career.
