I started playing field hockey in 9th grade for my schools jv team as a goalie. In my second season playing I was pulled up to varsity where I currently play. It wasn’t easy playing on a varsity team as a second year player but the hours I put in on and off the turf payed off and I was able to start 5 games this season. Some things that stand out about me as a player is my ability to communicate on the field with the rest of my teammates to make sure we are all working as a team and letting them know where a play might be going. Over the past 3 years of playing my ability to read plays has grown stronger. Another quality about me is my fast feet. Everyday I work on my footwork wether it is using a agility ladder, cones or sprinting, I always make sure my footwork is improving to keep my reaction time as fast as possible.
I would like to be recruited to play in college because I have a true passion to play field hockey and would like to take it to a professional level. I also love being part of a team and the community it provides.
I feel I demonstrate leadership on and off the field with my teammates, teachers and my friends. I always show respect, support and always listen to someone's opinions.
I pursue a healthy athletic performance as a student athlete by maintaining a healthy diet and getting a good amount of sleep. I participate in weekly private training sessions as well as regular team practices. I also regularly bike ride and/or run at least four miles daily. I always make sure to set aside time to study and do school work so my grades stay up. I am involved in school and community activities and I am always interested in trying something new. I enjoy spending time with friends and family.
It is such a great feeling to know your helping someone, I like to volunteer at the animal shelter because it's so much fun and it's nice to see the animals get homes.
