Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

My name is Scott Rathbun and I am currently a senior at Keene High School in Keene, NH. My goal is to become a great pole vaulter.

I made the difficult decision to give up a successful wrestling career after finishing 3rd at the New Hampshire State Tournament my sophomore year. I realized I wanted to pursue pole vaulting full time. Since then I have been traveling to Patriot Pole Vault Club in Westborough, MA to receive extra coaching and practice year round. I’ve had a lot of growth over my sophomore and junior seasons, achieving heights of 12’6” and 14’9” respectively. I won the New Hampshire State Championship and earned All State honors, placing fourth at the New England Championship as well. In October of this year I cleared 15'1" at the Flying Circus Preseason meet in Warwick, NY.

My goal this year is to break the NH state record of 15’8”. The additional coaching and focus on track and field will help to push me towards that goal. My other events are javelin, throwing 157’1". I also run in the 4x400 and the 200m with a time of 23.95. I am looking into schools that will challenge me both academically and athletically.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church Youth Group and have traveled twice to Haiti to take part in missions trips. We worked with children in orphanages, assisted with food distribution and supported the humanitarian efforts in that country. I have also been a part of the Junior Lions Club in Keene, NH. I volunteered in several efforts to benefit my community thought this organization
