Rowing Additional

I started rowing at Marina Aquatic Center in 2016 as a sophomore and Novice. I am on my third year of Varsity rowing. Before this, I was on the JV team as a freshman on the Mira Costa High School swim team. I was swimming 2 years prior to that. I find rowing to be challenging yet invigorating because it pushes me to limits I didn't know I was capable of. It has taught me the importance of teamwork and friendship as we all strive to achieve the same common goal. Highlights as a Novice rower include an undefeated year of races. I was in the Novice B boat that won first place at the Southwest Regionals Championships. Contributed to capturing the Southwest Regional Women’s Points Trophy with Marina Aquatic Center in 2017. Highlights of 2018 was finishing 7th in the Nation in the Women's Youth Lightweight 4+ at Youth Nationals.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am a part of a foundation called Friendship Circle which supports parents and families who have children and young adults with special needs. I volunteer so they can enjoy a fun expierience including sports, arts, music, and many other programs with our peers. I love the feeling of finishing the day knowing that I made someone else happy and helped feel a part of the community.
