Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Being a collegiate athlete would be the ultimate expression of my hard work, drive and determination in all areas. From the classroom to rink, court and field, nothing in my life is done half way.
Being able to continue with sports in college would show my commitment to myself, my family, my school and my community to be an example of excellence.and it would be an honor.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a member of a large family, I bring a sense of calm and quiet to my teammates. As the only female member of a U14 checking hockey team, I often show my teammates that being physical, although a part of the game, does not have to be the game. Intelligent play and strategy can be the winning edge. As a scholar first than athlete, I often am at the rink for hours before my practice times because of my little brother. I'm always using my time wisely and can be found doing my homework. Often my teammates will bring work and study with me. I guess being from a big family I bring a sense of relaxation and attitude of fun because that's what sports are supposed to be!

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Healthy athletic performance as a student athlete is about balance. Always remembering that it's a game is where I start. I'm very lucky to be able to play sports and excel.in the classroom. My recently deceased aunt, who was born with developmental and intellectual delays, lived with our family for a long time when I was young. She loved to play games with us kids and although the rules sometimes were difficult for her; she never gave up. She laughed and enjoyed just playing the game. Just enjoying the game, working hard and knowing that if you love the game success is that ability.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Serving my community has been instilled in me for as long as I can remember. Through community service, I can humbly serve those less fortunate than I am and it makes me feel as if I can make a small difference.
From service to my school as a member of the executive committee and stage crew to sports field clean up days to helping my parents with food pantry donations and my mother's philanthropic efforts to aid the homeless and food insecure; serving others is a big part of my life.
