Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Running is a way of life, and those who do it are generally into overall well being. Being athletically and nutritionally fit helps me in turn manage my studies. Being around people who run is also beneficial, as our health values are aligned.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have helped a fellow runner on our team who is challenged by autism. We have run together (he requires a running partner, and also has an aide), and I have also volunteered to help when he's needed a ride home. Through our discussions, I have found he is very bright and friendly if given the chance. I believe we need to lift up those around us, and I think this friendship in turn has lifted my spirits. I strongly believe in leading by example, and through my example, others have more easily accepted this runner.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Being involved in both distance running and mixed martial arts gives me a balance of strength, flexibility, balance and endurance - and each sport benefits the other in many ways. Both require mental toughness, focus and determination to yield the highest level of performance. Each include studies of nutrition and non-quitting spirit that round out the physical health. All these factors apply very well to education and studying, so it is a good overall fit.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have volunteered at my school and at fundraisers for my local volunteer fire company. It is important to give back to the community, as we all need to help one another, as well as to lead by example.
