Athletics have always been a huge part of my life, and I've participated in just about all of them. In fact, I started doing cross country in middle school to stay in shape for tennis which I have played as a competitive junior since I was 11. However, I have really excelled at running and ended up earning a varsity letter every year on a team that was consistently top ten in North Carolina. My success prompted me to give indoor track a try for the 2017-2018 season and I've managed to do well so far, despite having never run on a track in my life. I feel like I am still learning the sport but picking it up very fast - with competitive times in every event I've run so far.
Having such a late start in track, I know I have a lot to learn, but I have great coaches who say I have a lot of potential. I've been told my body type is ideal for middle distance. I'm 6'5 and lanky with really long legs and a big wingspan.
I would really like to continue my running career in college and see how far it can take me. I have high academic standards for myself, but that discipline that has helped me in the classroom can also help me to excel in running as well.
Thank you for your consideration.
