Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love being part of a team. It is the basis of my social network. There is nothing more thrilling to doing your best as a member of a team, win, lose, or draw. I can't imagine my life without sports in it. It is the great equalizer and they push me to be tougher, stronger, better, faster.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have been a captain of my high school baseball team since sophomore year. This past season, I held captains practices and tried to show the younger athletes how important it is to be disciplined about their sport and play as a team. I also tried to show them the right way to play - listening to the coaches, respecting the umpires calls, and not letting experiences get stuck in your head. Every at bat, every play, is a new opportunity. I tried to remind everyone that baseball should be fun and we are privileged to have the opportunity to play the game together.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I work out with the trainers several times a week. I have eliminated sugary beverages (especially all sodas) from my diet. I eat greens and other vegetables and exercise every day. I do not drink, smoke, or consume drugs.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am involved with my church's youth group. I have participated in mission work. This summer I am volunteering to help with their Vacation Bible School summer program. I think it is important for children to have a strong religious foundation and helping them receive this in a fun, casual environment is very effective. I'm proud to be a part of it.
