Personal Highlights

I am a very committed student that is a two sport athlete. I play varsity volleyball in the fall and club volleyball along with varsity basketball in the spring. I take all PreAP and AP classes and I would like to eventually go to vet school.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I really enjoy the sport of volleyball. I love how hard I practice at it, and how mentally challenging it can be. Volleyball is completely a team sport, and that is the kind of environment that I thrive in. I also play basketball at my high school, and am constantly around my volleyball and basketball families, and think that this would be a great environment to pursue my academic and athletic careers in college. I also, through the years, have fallen in love with competition and the mindset of a competitive person. I am always striving to beat my competitors and better myself as an athlete, which i feel this mentality can be supported by playing sports in college.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I feel as though one of the biggest things as a volleyball player is not only athletic ability, but also the mentality on the court. I establish this by consistently having a good attitude and cheering for my teammates. I have previously been involved in girl scouts, which has helped me learn how to be a mature adult through volunteer work.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I didn't make the volleyball team in 7th grade, which made me think about my motives and how badly I wanted to pursue my athletic career. As a young kid this pushed me to not only make teams in more competitive volleyball programs, but helped to show me where hard work and dedication can get you. I feel as though healthy athletic performance should not just be about physicality, but also how hard you can push yourself and dealing with successes and failures. When i didn't make the team in middle school it didn't make me want to quit; it made me want to work that much harder to prove to myself that I could achieve my goals even through adversity.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Our athletic program at Clear Springs High School has spent several hours of volunteer work around Houston and several other neighboring areas to help our community through hurricane Harvey relief. I am extremely active in girl scouts and have spent several weekends helping out people and families in our community. As humans we are always thinking about ourselves, and I believe that we should take some of our own time and spend it helping other people.
