Varsity Rowing team Captain- Junior Year

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I'd love to be recruited to row in college as I find strength in the sport through my commitment to the rigorous workouts, I love being part of a team that's connected and working toward always improving and of course I love the thrill of racing! The sport centers me and is now a part of who I am.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

In Junior year - I was nominated as Varsity Rowing Team Captain. I hope my spirit, athletic capability and leadership skills all entered into my nomination. Off the water, I lead through volunteering annually as a Freshman Team Lead at my high school. This programs enables me to build my mentoring skills and allows me to provide guidance, friendship and leadership to the incoming freshman as I help them to acclimate to high school life.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

To me, athletic performance is all about balance. I try to ensure I spend the majority of my time on my studying and prioritize that time over athletics, work and volunteer time.. I feel rowing and the challenging schedule that the sport demands has helped make me a better organized person. As related to the physical side of health, I eat a fairly good diet, include treats ( gummy type candy is my weakness) and make sure I drink a lot of water daily. Participating in athletics has made me aware that my body and my mind works best when its properly fueled.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Since Freshman year at Nardin Academy, I've earned over 200 hours of community service volunteering for the Not for Profit West Side Rowing organization. Annually I volunteer at the Summer Learn to Row camp. I assist coaches with camper organization, assisting with practice, helping the new campers to develop a love of rowing!!

I also belong to the Nardin grandfriends club where we connect with elderly persons who are in need of communication and friendship.

Additionally, I am a Nardin Team lead where I am connected to a group of 3-4 incoming Freshman , assisting them with orientation day, first day of school organization and throughout their 4 years at Nardin.

I am member of the crochet club and have found it a great way to relax my mind and body!
