Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I've always considered myself an all-around athlete which is why I would like to take my track and field career to the next level by possibly getting into multi-sport events such as decathlon or heptathlon. The gold medalist for decathlon in the Olympics obtains the title of "the greatest athlete in the world" which I absolutely agree with. It tests all physical abilities. High school track and field doesn't have decathlons and in college at least I know that I can give it a shot. Track has also taught my to push to my very best under any circumstances. When your in a slump, bounce back. When you're doing great, get better. I know there is much more for me to learn throughout my track career that I can apply to everyday life which is why I plan on taking it to the next level.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I'm known to be the one to get groups together and include as many people as I can. When my friends are trying to plan something fun for us to do, they will often report to me because they know I am the one who can make it happen. Even though I really focus on my own goals and work hard for myself, I like to bring others along for the ride. I bring people together and even some friendships were made because of what I put together. I can do this with people on and off the track which is why I am grateful to have this gift.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I am definitely a strong believer in not cramming too much into my schedule. Everyone should have at least a little bit of free time to either relax or do some fun activities while staying involved in school or community functions. I maintain healthy eating habits the best I can including drinking plenty of water and having a consistent pre-meet meal plan. Cross country has really helped me understand this mindset and I have carried that over to track and field as well.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

One example of how I get involved with my community is with a group at my church called EDGE. It's a religious education group for middle schoolers who are on their way to being confirmed. I've been asked by their leader to come by to give some talks here and there. I love talking about what I know and explaining it in a way for others to understand. I often make the connection of faith to athletics since many of them are athletes. It makes sense to them and I know they get something out of it when it comes from a high schooler. I have been getting a lot out of it as well. They say you understand things best when you are able to explain it to others. My faith is very important to me and I plan to carry it through college and so on.
