To whom it may concern,
It is a privilege to write this recommendation for Jacob Berlin. I’ve been fortunate to coach Jacob on the Johansen basketball team for these past two years. Jacob has shown to be a great young man of intelligence, character, and talent. He will be entering his sophomore year of high school and has the work ethic and positive attitude any coach would love to have.
Jacob is the prime example of a Johansen basketball player. He is one of the hardest working athletes that I’ve worked with in my coaching career. He will never take any time off and will constantly give 100% each and every day. He’s the first one to criticize his work and will do anything to get better. He has worked on his shot every morning at 6AM in order to become one of the best shooters in our entire program. His basketball IQ is much more mature than other players his age. He is the easiest player to coach due to his attitude and he’s a leader on this team. He’s a player that we cannot get out of the gym and will be the first player in the gym and the last one to leave. He has the heart of a champion and his work ethic continues to inspire and motivate his peers. If he continues to work hard, he will maximize his potential and will have a great high school career. He is only a sophomore and I’m excited to see where his future will take him.
He is not only an athlete but a great leader on and off the court. He’s an outstanding young man and has a great attitude each day. He is polite and humble. Although he may be soft spoken, his actions speak for themselves. He is on his way to becoming a great athlete and a great young man.

Personal Highlights

I am a sophomore who has more passion for the game of basketball than any other player on the court. I work my hardest to be one of the best players on the floor in any situation, and I make up for my height with my flexibility as a player and basketball IQ. I have a large amount of stamina and have been known to play entire halves without a break. My ball handling, passing, and finishing skills get better every single day. I have a high moral character and am incredibly coachable. I am the sophomore team captain, and am a leader both on and off the court.

Off the court, I try to challenge myself with extra curricular activities and AP classes. I maintain a 4.5 weighted GPA while participating in my school's Leadership program (I am the Sophomore Class President) and being active in Boy Scouts of America as a Life Scout working towards Eagle. I also run my own Homeless Outreach program. My goal is to play the highest level of basketball while pursuing a quality education in Behavioral Sciences.

I love everything about basketball. My goal is to play at the highest level possible while excelling academically.
