Villa Madonna Academy Varsity Softball |
The offensive stats listed here are incomplete in regard to hitting from my varsity seasons in 6th and 7th grade. The score books and statistical records from my high school were missing statistical categories for those years. During summer, I am one of 3 pitchers with a premier travel team, Northern KY Bandits. |

I have always been committed to being the best athlete that I can possibly be. Throughout junior high and high school, this has involved maximizing my athletic potential in multiple sports. Some days, that required leaving the gym from one practice to head to the field for another, or vice versa. Yet through it all, I maintained a strict regiment of balancing academics and athletics so that my primary focus was on being a STUDENT-athlete, as my GPA reflects. In contemplating the process of becoming a college athlete, there is no doubt in my mind that I am prepared to be recruited to play softball in college. My daily experiences and sacrifices have been focused around the game I love unconditionally, and I am not ready for my time on the field to end. Competitive softball is my motivation and mental connection to academic success. I have been blessed with ability, passion and determination to continue my athletic pursuits, and have been preparing through every high school experience for academic and athletic success in college . I am confident that I possess the physical and academic capability to compete at a higher level and am a worthy candidate to be recruited.
I am proud to be an ambassador of Villa Madonna Academy in the classroom and on the field or court. I have served in leadership positions as elected by my peers. Freshman and Sophomore year I was elected Class Treasurer on Student Council. In this my Senior Year, I was elected Director of Communications for the National Honor Society. These leadership positions require integrity, accountability, organization and dedication. We are held to the highest standards of all NHS students and committed to additional roles of leadership and service in the community and on campus.
Among my athletic teams, I am a captain of three varsity squads as selected by the coaches, subject to approval by the principal and athletic director. I have been captain of varsity basketball for three years, varsity softball for three years, and alternate/co-captain volleyball one year. The responsibilities of athletic captains include roles on and off the field/court. We initiate the start of warm-ups/pre-game routines, make sure all the equipment is accounted for and dugouts/locker rooms are better or cleaner than when we arrived, we are assigned speaking responsibilities with umps and refs and must maintain respectful relationships at all times, initiate team huddles or pep talks and motivational speeches, we also have communication and leadership roles that involve keeping everyone academically motivated and eligible, serve as a role model to other players in effort, performance and attitude, occasionally discuss game scenarios or plays with coaches, and lastly anything that arises which the coaches feel fall under the realm of captain. It carries huge responsibility, but I am proud to have earned the respect and trust of my coaches to be named captain, in not one but THREE sports. These leadership experiences and admiration of teammates are priceless!
I consider volunteering a vital component to my overall educational experience. I was raised from a very early age to value the dignity of all people by getting involved to help my community. This philosophy and my love of interacting with people gives me an appreciation for any service contributions I can make, while focusing on learning something from every situation. I volunteer to help others, to make a difference, to affect positive change. During the past three summers I have had the opportunity to host a clinic with my soccer team at Redwood and The Diocesan Catholic Children's Home, where I have experienced ways to work with children who have special needs and/or mild behavioral difficulties. This year I began volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as tutoring Villa elementary students one day a week after school. In these community service opportunities, I find motivation to grow and reach beyond the expected, representing the values upon which my youth and education are founded.
