I started rowing this spring (2018) when a coach from a local rowing club came to my high school looking to start a team for high school students in the area. I decided to give rowing a try and fell in love with the sport. My favorite part of rowing is the team aspect. Before rowing, I had never participated in a sport in which the outcome is completely dictated by the group, not the individual. However, my experience in competitive endurance sports, such as swimming and running, allowed the racing aspect of rowing to come very naturally to me. In the 2-3 months I have been involved in the sport, I have raced in two regattas with my club (Bay City Rowing Club) and I have done two 2k erg tests. My first 2k was completed in 7:35 and my most recent 2k was completed in 7:27. I look forward to gaining more experience in the sport and improving my rowing ability.
