In order to fulfill my dreams of continuing to play tennis throughout my lifetime, I would like to be recruited to play in college as well. Playing at the collegiate level would keep me healthy, fit, and motivated to continue a career in tennis.
I believe that I embody leadership by showing that I care on and off the tennis court. To begin, during practice and matches, I cheer on my teammates for doing well and am there to support them even if they fault in their match. Not only that, but I also give people my advice and opinions if they ask or seem to need it, and I'm always giving people pointers on what I notice they are doing well or not so well on while playing. Lastly, I show leadership off the court by continuing to give a helping hand to others in need, whether it be at school or in the community by volunteering.
As a student-athlete, I eat before and after practice to assure myself that I will have enough energy. During practice and matches, I always bring enough water to keep myself hydrated. Not only that, but I am persistent on and off the court, whether it is playing or finishing school work. Therefore, the steps that I take to prepare is how I pursue "healthy athletic performance".
In my community, I am just beginning to be involved. For instance, in 2016, I volunteered at the local food bank with classmates. In the beginning of 2019, I will be helping with the managerial duties for my high school boys' tennis team. These things are important to me because it is always a good thing to help others.
