Personal
Swimming has been a major part of my life for many years, and I hope that it continues to play an important role. I love the sport, and I want to continue swimming for the rest of my life. For me, the college experience won't seem complete without it. I look forward to working with my college coaches and teammates and achieving new goals for the team and myself.
I have been commended for my quiet leadership skills many times. For example, when I attended the U.S. Navel Academy Swim Camp in 2015, I received an award for my leadership skills. Most recently, I have served as a role model for my summer swim teams. Coaches have told me that they are happy to have me on the team because of the positive influence I have on others.
Healthy athletic performance requires a great deal of balance. As a healthy athlete, I need to take care of myself not only physically, but socially and academically as well. It is important to me that I stay challenged academically and physically, and have time for my family and friends.
Community service is a big part of my life. I enjoy volunteering my time to help younger children learn to swim competitively, but I also enjoy volunteering outside of a pool. For example, as a member of the Christian Services Club at my high school, I volunteer at a food pantry and I also volunteer at a local church during lent. I am currently organizing a drive to create puzzle books for residents at assisted living communities. I would like to continue volunteering in college because I enjoy meeting new people and helping them.
