Three Year Varsity Letterman
My name is Cole Lizar and I have been playing water polo for the past 7 years. I have played many youth sports over the years but my favorite two are water polo and basketball. Once I entered high school, I have focused only on water polo as it is my true athletic passion. I have rigorous academic and extra curricular schedules but I am able to balance them in order to practice and compete at a high level. As I enter my last year of high school, I am highly motivated to pursue water polo at the collegiate level and to take advantage of my high achieving academic progress. I have traveled across the country and visited college campuses that can satisfy both interests. With these visits I have come away with a sense of what life would be like at the various campuses and I am open to considering any opportunity to determine if it is the right fit for me.
As for my water polo play and style, I believe I have a high aptitude for the game. I have grown considerably in the last year and can take advantage of my size and increasing strength. I have developed a sharp sense of where to place the ball with my shot and when to find opportunities for other players. On defense I have concentrated on the inside game with better positioning and defensive techniques that have improved as I have grown. I take my coaches and their instruction very seriously and am always looking for ways to improve my skills. I have helped foster a cooperative culture on our team as opposed to one of intimidation. I believe that leading by positive example can be a much more powerful way to build a team.
